2016 Al J. Cone Trial Advocacy Institute

2016 Al J. Cone Trial Advocacy Institute

August 4-6, 2016

Al J. Cone Trial Advocacy Institute is three full days of engaging presentations and interactive workshops designed specifically for new personal injury attorneys to advance their trial skills.

Attendees go through the entire trial process from the defense and plaintiff perspective using a case fact pattern (a hard copy of the fact pattern and pertinent materials will be mailed to you in advance to allow for preparation). Throughout the three days, the attorneys learn alongside their peers and receive mentorship and feedback from the most successful attorneys in the state. This seminar will be worth one jury trial for Civil Trial Certification and is expected to be worth 25 Hours of General CLE Credit.

Case materials will be based on an auto negligence fact pattern. Civil trial issues to be explored will be:
  • medical expert testimony
  • character evidence
  • criminal conviction impeachment
  • bias impeachment
  • prior recorded testimony
  • evidence from a 911 call
  • breath test computer printout

Here's what we've heard from past attendees:

It was a tremendous opportunity to test my trial skills in an educational environment and receive immediate feedback that has helped make me a better trial lawyer. I urge all my young lawyer peers to attend this hands-on workshop at least once. If you are going to try cases, this is worth more than the cost of law school.
– Vanessa Brice, Colling, Gilbert, Wright & Carter, LLC

I not only gained confidence in myself as a trial lawyer, but also developed connections with a community of other young lawyers who have the same interests. The immediate value of the mock trial and advice from speakers is tremendous, but the invaluable relationships you create with your peers will have the longest lasting impact.
– Fay O. Pappas, Bailey Fisher, PLLC

Attending the Al J. Cone Trial Advocacy Institute is one of the single greatest learning experiences I have had as a young lawyer. Nothing will get you more prepared to go to trial or give you more confidence in your trial skills than attending this program!
– Dustin Herman, Spangenberg Shibley & Liber LLP
